I absolutely ADORE these green tassel earrings by Welsh Desiger Rhian Morris 🙂 green is probably my favourite colour and these will definitely be worn with lots of outfits!

I came across Rhian’s beautiful contemporary jewellery designs on Instagram a while ago and got in touch with her to find out more about her inspiration and ideas….

What sparked your interest in Jewellery design?

Making and being creative is always something I’ve enjoyed but it was when I did my Art Foundation in Swansea that I discovered I loved making Jewellery that wasn’t the norm.

Did you go to University or are you self taught?

I did a Degree in Artist Designer; Marker in Cardiff Met which is a broad art course that you can specialise in anything by expanding your skill set, I chose  to make jewellery I guess that’s why my work isn’t the standard jewellery.

How has your work evolved since you started your own Brand?

It’s gotten quite refined, it’s more user friendly and more everyday fashion than one off bold statement pieces.

What advice can you give to any aspiring Jewellery Designers?

I’d say to be prepared for hard work as it is a long journey but stay true to you, your designs are what makes you different.

What obstacles have you faced since starting your own Brand?

There’s probably been quite a few, there are things I still struggle with, contacting retailers is always difficult as there is always that fear of being rejected but you have to keep powering on through, even through the times you think ‘I can’t do this’, sometimes you are your own worst enemy and getting over your own fears is a big obstacle.

What are you fascinated by at the moment and how does it influence your work?

Nature at the moment, I love going for walks and taking in the great outdoors, it gives me motivation to get on.

Please list your three career highlights of last year…

Biggest achievements so far is definitely winning an award, I wasn’t expecting to be a winner as there were so many talented people!  Every time I sell something is always an achievement – happy dances always commence!  And lastly having a website I am proud of.

How would you describe your Brand in one sentence?

Simple, unique handmade jewellery that is affordable.

Thank you Rhian!
