As you know from a recent post, after five years of not taking a holiday, we have started traveling again. We had a fantastic time and are planning to go away more this year! When we do, I will be using some of these packing tips I am going to share with you in this article. As I know from recent experience, fitting everything you need into one just one case is tricky. But, as you will see, it can be done.
Pack clothes you can wear more than once
Try not to put anything in your case that can only be worn with one outfit. You want to pack mostly versatile clothes that can be worn for a range of activities. These playsuits and jumpsuits that you can find at fashionworld.co.uk are a great example of what I mean. You can wear them for a stroll along the sand, a meal out or while sightseeing.
Ensuring that as much of what you pack can be mixed and matched gives you plenty of choice. So, if you end up doing something unexpected you can easily put together an outfit that is appropriate for the occasion or activity.
Make a list
You need to be sure that you do not forget anything. There are plenty of packing lists you can download, but it is important to choose one that is editable. Everyone is different, so I do not think there is such a thing as a one size fits all packing list.
The best approach is to sit down and go through all of the activities you are planning to enjoy while you are away. At the same time, note down what you would like to wear for each activity. Don´t forget to include accessories and items like makeup and other beauty products. Include things like your hair straighteners. In short, anything you will need to get ready for your day or night out.
Now that you have done that, you will be able to narrow down the list. You can identify how many pairs of trousers, blouses, skirts, and tops you need. Then all you need to do is to choose exactly what items to take. Be especially careful when selecting what shoes you will pack. They are heavy and the fact that most footwear cannot be folded means they will take up a lot of space in your case.
Try everything on
Go shopping a bit in advance. Doing this gives you a chance to try all of your
outfits on and identify whether you have forgotten anything.
Learn to pack properly
Fitting everything you need into one case is a real skill, but one you can easily learn. This video tells you about all the packing techniques you will need to know.
Hopefully you will feel more confident about being able to look good without having to pay extra luggage fees. If you want to read about our holiday in Tenerife and see some of the outfits I packed to provide you with some inspiration, you can do so by clicking this link.
